Nintendo Labo + Bill Nye the Science Guy
In April 2018, we were challenged to create a breakthrough media moment for Nintendo Labo — an innovative hands-on product from Nintendo that allows you to make, play and discover — to help drive consumer demand for this new product among kids and families in Canada. We knew that the unique hook for Nintendo Labo was its connection to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM): Nintendo Labo was a way to make science fun — something that not every video game company could credibly claim to do. To tell the story in a “science-first” way, we knew we needed a “science-first” voice — and there was really only one man for the job. We forged a partnership with Bill Nye (the Science Guy!) to celebrate launch day with us in Canada, including participating in a series of media interviews with top mainstream outlets and hosting an interactive media event with kids from Let’s Talk Science, one of Canada’s top STEM education and outreach organizations.
